So Many Chartings

Jenn's wisdom to Sancho in re the idiocy of certain "information science" classes...

OKAY, here's the deal....Now, on Futurama, there is an episode where the earth is being taken over by Giant Floating Brains, as I mentioned. The brains plan to absorb all of the knowledge on the planet (a great line where the chief brain says "Sorting your knowledge into categories only made it EASIER to absorb....DEWEY you FOOL!!") after which they destroy the place. While they are absorbing knowledge, they use some sort of Brain Wave to make everyone on Earth stupid, and unable to interfere. (The episode is called 'The Day the Earth Stood Stupid') However, Fry is immune to this particular Brain Wave (due to a trip into the past he took in which he altered his own genetic make up), and is able to ultimately ward the Brains off, and thus save the planet.

I think it's important for you to visualize the post-Library School World as the Eternal Day the World Stood Stupid. True, and hopefully, not EVERYONE you encounter will be afflicted with the Stupid Brain Wave. Consider Library School as immunization for the Stupid World. You'll be able to move among the Stupidified people, immune to their intelligence sucking ways. Do you see?

[and perhaps the best bit!]

I've spent the last several years building an immunity to Ioacaine Powder......it's toxic, but perhaps ultimately useful. Wax on, Wax off, it seems absurdly simple, almost insultingly so. It's up to you to find the deeper power of it. (Are you appreciating the many different cultural metaphors I'm pulling here? It's like I'm a polyglot of cultural references.
